Pro Bono Wildfire Recovery Initiative Reaches 100th Family Served

Holdsworth & Inkwell's Pro Bono Wildfire Recovery Initiative has served its 100th family, marking a significant milestone in the firm's federal wildfire compensation pro bono work. The Initiative, launched in spring 2025, provides legal assistance to individual claimants navigating the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act administrative claims process.

The Work So Far

Over the first eight months of operation, Initiative attorneys and paralegals have assisted 100 families with claim preparation, administrative filings, valuation analysis, and review of disputed determinations. The claimant population includes landowners with property damage claims, families with displaced residency claims, small business owners with business interruption losses, and tribal entity members with claims under the framework's tribal-specific provisions. The work has produced substantial recoveries for individual claimants who would otherwise have navigated the federal administrative process without legal representation.

What Comes Next

The Initiative continues to accept new claimants on a rolling basis, with current capacity focused on Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Claims Office (HPCCFCO) proceedings. The firm has also begun preparing for potential expansion as the federal compensation framework develops.
